F.A.Q. - Frequently Asked Questions

  • When will The Holiest Crap be available?

You can pre-order the game right now on Pledgebox by clicking HERE. For anyone who pre-orders it on Pledgebox or supported the game when it was on Kickstarter, it is currently expected to arrive to you in May or June of 2024. I am working on setting up an online store where it can be purchased in the future.

  • Who is The Holiest Crap making fun of?

Yes. And by that I mean no one is safe…

  • Boo! Another game about poop?

Actually, no. The Holiest Crap is about people, not poop, and almost every joke is about crappy human behavior. The character Li’l Wipey, who is an angry toilet paper roll, represents the unfortunate people who are used and abused to clean up other people’s messes. It’s relatable and funny because you know you’ve been that person. The title of The Holiest Crap is giving an appropriate name to people who are self-righteous or people who think they’re better than you.

  • What is Kickstarter.com?

It’s a crowdfunding website that allows fans to financially support creative projects in exchange for rewards. In my case, fans and supporters helped me “kickstart” my creative project by funding and pre-purchasing copies of The Holiest Crap. My Kickstarter campaign was successful and I am now in the process of getting the product manufactured.

The long answer is on the Kickstarter “about” page, HERE.

  • What game is The Holiest Crap similar to?

Basically, none. Honestly, I’ve asked a lot of players to answer this same question for me after they played and everyone has struggled to find a game they feel is similar, even at game convention which is the home of gamer geeks. Some of the most common feedback I get from people is that it’s a very unique game, even if it’s not their cup of tea.

  • How many people can play The Holiest Crap at once?

The game is for 3-5 players.

  • How long does it take to play The Holiest Crap?

On average, 30-60 minutes. If it's your very first time, you can expect anywhere between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours. People who regularly play card games and board games usually learn how to play more quickly. When I taught the game to 4 board game nerds at a local game night (it was the first time playing for all of them), it took them 40 minutes to play a full game.

  • What is the age range for The Holiest Crap?

Weirdly, there are two answers to this. The official, legal answer is 14+. The unofficial answer is 10+, as endorsed by the incredible game reviewer Woosung Board Games. Why is that answer unofficial? Well, any game intended for younger audiences that will be sold internationally requires paid legal testing to be done (including to see how flammable my product is – yes really). Since I’m just a little start up company of one employee who is spending a big chunk of my life savings to make this possible, paying for that safety testing is another expense I’d rather not pay for right now.

  • Is The Holiest Crap political or religious?

Nope. This is a game about human psychology more than anything, and it makes fun of crappy things we ALL do as humans. There are no real people depicted in the game, though you may see correlations to people, groups, or organizations you are personally familiar with.

  • You're an independent game designer… How can I help make The Holiest Crap successful?

    1) Pre-order the game HERE. 2) Buy stickers, t-shirts, and swag on my Threadless store HERE. 3) Share the card game on social media and tell your friends and family why this game is so righteous. 4) Follow my social accounts and join my mailing list.

  • Who is the illustrator for The Holiest Crap? How were the illustrations made?

The illustrations were made by me, the creator of the game, Erik Robinson. Every illustration for the game has been made in Adobe Illustrator except for one, which was made in Adobe Photoshop.

  • What inspired the creation of The Holiest Crap?

Multiple things: 1) I love creating things, especially things inspired by human psychology. 2) The main catalyst for the game’s creation was the unhealthy and self-centered nature of social media, the news, and modern politics. I don’t like it, and enjoy making fun of it. 3) My life has always been leading to this game because of many experiences I've had being convinced by angry, bitter, & defensive people (or straight-up narcissists) that I'm unworthy, unlovable, profoundly wrong, never good enough, or some kind of evil devil. Creating this game has helped me learn to stand up for myself.

  • Erik, is this your full-time job?

Not yet! If you can help make my game successful, I eventually hope I can do more of this. I’m currently working an office job as a full-time product photographer, and occasionally do more artistic personal or freelance photography, which you can see on my photography website HERE.
